John Valcourt
John Valcourt, 87, went home to the Lord on March 18, 2015 surrounded by his family at home.He was born on July 7, 1927 in Sanford, the son of Desire and Antoinette (Benoit) Valcourt.After graduating from high school he entered the US Navy where he proudly served aboard the USS Fulton in the Philippines until his honorable discharge.On May 30, 1953, he married his beloved wife Annette Sevigny, who survives him. After his discharge he and Annette settled in Norwich where they raised their family. John worked for 20 years as a mechanic for Doyle Sand & Gravel of Montville, CT and the City of Norwich for another 10 years until his retirement. John was a simple man who loved his family.Besides his wife Annette, John is also survived by his children and their spouses: Michael and Nancy Valcourt of Lyman, Elizabeth and Gregory Wakim of Madison, CT and Karen and Kent Lewis of Plainfield, CT. He is also survived by his sisters: Marguerite Sevigny and Cecile Marie Valcourt, grandchildren David Valcourt, Joel Valcourt, Amy Wakim, and her fiance Nathan Williams and Matthew Wakin and his wife Katie.A graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Saturday, August 27 at 10:30 AM at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
