Arlene Vachon
Arlene E Vachon, 80, of Sanford died Friday, June 29, 2007 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Arlene was born in Bethel on November 28, 1926 to LeForest and Geneva Grover Uhlman. When she was young, her family relocated to Sanford where she attended local schools. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1944. In 1963, she married Roger A. Vachon.Mrs. Vachon was a very hard working woman and held several jobs throughout her working life. She was a mediator for the Attorney General's office in Augusta, and worked as a matron for the Sanford Police Department. She worked for 15 years as administrative assistant for CMP and served as the company C.A.M.R.A. coordinator from 1996-2006. Arlene enjoyed being active in town politics, serving on various committees through the years. She was an animal lover and had raised poodles and parakeets. The Christmas season was a favorite time of year for her. She took pride in setting up an elaborate Christmas display which family and friends would come to admire. She enjoyed hunting and attended Curtis Lake Christian Church. Mrs. Vachon will be remembered as a very kind woman and a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Mrs. Vachon was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Roger Vachon; a daughter, Carlene Hartford; a sister, Doris Gerrish and a grandson, Bobby Bourque.Surviving are a son, James Mathieu of Sanford; 4 daughters, Carol Ann Mathieu, Christina Vachon and Katrina Vachon, all from Sanford and Melinda Mathieu of Rochester, NH; a sister, Donna Butler and her husband David, of Lebanon; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 3rd at Oakdale Cemetery, located on Twombley Road in Sanford.
