John L. Turgeon, a lifelong resident of Sanford passed away at his residence on Wednesday April 18, 2007 at the age of 55 years old. He was born in Sanford on May 24, 1951, a son of Leo P. and Constance (Trudeau) Turgeon Junkins.John graduated from St. Ignatius Regional High School in 1969. John remained a lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Parish serving in various ministries as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and as an Attendant.He received his B.S. degree Cum Laude and his MBA degree from the Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. He also earned numerous awards and citations from the American Banker's Association.John was employed as Vice President of the Ocean National Bank in Rochester, NH. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Rochester, the Rochester American Legion, the Rochester Chamber of Commerce and the Rochester Rotary. He served on the Avis Goodwin Board of Directors and the Opera House Board of Directors. John enjoyed the beach, traveling and spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandson, Jack. His new role as a grandfather 'pepere' brought him a tremendous amount of joy. John had an outgoing personality and was friends with everyone he met.He is predeceased by his wife, Simonne Turgeon who passed away in 1993, his father, Leo P. Turgeon and stepfather, Avery Junkins. He is survived by his two daughters, Amy L. Sevigny and her husband, Nathan and grandson, Jack Roger Sevigny of Springvale, Beth A. Michalak and her husband, Geoff of Waterboro, one son, Craig L. Turgeon of Springvale, his twin brother, Steven P. Turgeon and his wife, Nancy M. Turgeon of Sanford, his mother, Connie Turgeon Junkins of Sanford, and one niece, Kathleen, one step brother, Dennis Junkins.Visiting hours for John and his son Craig will be on Sunday April 22nd from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for them both on Monday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Maine Children's Cancer Program 'In memory of John Turgeon' 100 Campus Drive Unit 107, Scarborough, Maine 04074To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
