George Tibbetts

George S. Tibbetts, Jr., 75, of Sanford, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008 at his residence in Sanford. Born on August 16, 1933, he was a son of George and Blanche (Poole) Tibbetts. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, during which time George was instrumental in rescue operations aiding flood victims in northern California. He was assigned to the 839th Transportation Terminal Service Company of Fort Mason, CaliforniaFor many years he worked at Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester as a Boiler Operator. He was then employed at Areofab, retiring several years ago. He is predeceased by a son, John R. Tibbetts and a sister, Alice Poole. He is survived by one daughter, Jean Drury and her husband, Larry of Springvale, three grandchildren, Shawn Drury, Amy Drury and Lance Drury, three great grandchildren, Shelly O'Brien, Johnathan Drury and Alyse Drury.A Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17th at 1pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
