Gary C. Thornton
Gary C. Thornton, 67, of Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Frisbee Memorial Rochester, New Hampshire. Gary attended Military Academy in South Carolina and was a graduate of Thornton Academy in Biddeford. He worked with his father at his sheet metal shop in Waterboro and later became a woodsman. He had an uncanny knowledge of machinery and could repair most anything metal or wood. He disassembled and rebuilt his 1981 Road King Motorcycle. Gary had wanderlust and hitchhiked freely from Maine to California and back in his youth with his dog Jake. He had an extensive knowledge of our country's geography and had a great appreciation of nature. He had a tenderness for animals and those less fortunate than he. Whenever possible, he made a point to help others whenever or wherever he was needed. Gary is predeceased by his mother Jean, his brothers Steve and John and his son Gary. He leaves behind his life love Evelyn Caron; his father Charles of Waterboro; his two daughters Maria of Gloucester, Massachusetts and Michele Angers of Sanford; five grandchildren, Emily, Macy, Jake, Dana, and A.J along with many nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held in June at the Pine Grove Cemetery in North Waterboro.
