Elizabeth G. Thompson

Elizabeth G. Thompson, 89, of Alfred, died at her home on Monday, September 16, 2013.Elizabeth was born in Westbrook on July 25, 1924 to John and Bertha (Hutchins) Gerry. She grew up in Alfred where she attended local schools, graduating from Alfred High School in 1942. In 1945, she married Donald F. Thompson and together they shared 56 years of marriage until his death in 2001.Elizabeth worked for over 20 years preparing the food for the children at Alfred Elementary School. She was a wonderful wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, cleaning and providing a loving home for her family. She was also a devoted daughter, visiting her mother's home daily until her death in 2002. Elizabeth had been a member of the AAM Club in Alfred for many years and enjoyed exercising, going on daily walks and attending aerobics classes. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Donald F. Thompson, her son, Barry James Thompson and her brother, John Gerry, Jr.Surviving are three daughters, Gail Ouellette and her husband Daniel of Springvale, Ellen Pennell of Alfred and Wendy Bean and her husband Kirk of Alfred; six grandchildren, Eric Binette, Nathan Binette, Nicholas Pennell, Kirk Bean, Jr., Daniel Bean and Vanessa Bean; 10 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Kendall Gerry, Sr. and his wife Sylvia of Alfred, Keith Gerry, Sr. and his wife Meredith of Alfred, Sharon Cote and her husband Raymond of Springvale; many nieces and nephews and her beloved Chihuahua Rex.At Elizabeth's request, services will be private.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Alfred Fire and Rescue, P.O.
