Dakota F. Thomas, 21, of Sanford, formerly of Massachusetts, died on Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Acton as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.Dakota was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on December 27, 1993. He was the son Jeanne and Gerald P. "Jerry" Mace of Sanford and James J. Thomas of Ayer, Massachusetts. When he was young he moved to Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 2012. He had been employed as a cabinet maker for the past two years at Index Mill Work in Milton Mills, New Hampshire.Dakota was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and doing anything that involved spending time outside. He also enjoyed working on motorcycles and tinkering with small engines. Dakota was a very outgoing and friendly person with a great sense of humor and many friends. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend and will be dearly missed.Dakota was predeceased by a brother, Jackson Mace and by his grandparents, Ruth and Frank Judge of Everett, Masssachusetts and Geraldine Fillios.Surviving are his mother and step-father, Jeanne and Gerald P. "Jerry" Mace of Sanford; his father, James J. Thomas of Ayer, Massachusetts; three siblings, Peter Thomas of Sanford, Lauren Steeves of Woburn, Massachusetts and Matthew Mace of Salisbury, Massachusetts; a niece, Sophia Lynn Mace; his grandparents Gerald P. Mace, Sr. and his wife Maureen of Wilmington, Massachusetts and many aunts, uncles and cousins..Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14th at 10:00 AM at St. George's Episcopal Church located at 3 Emerson Street in Sanford. Interment with committal prayers will follow at 1:30 PM at the Fox Hill Cemetery located in Billerica, MA.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Sophia Lynn Mace Educational Fund, C/O Gerald and Jeanne Mace, Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union, P.O.
