David Swan

David Swan, 76, a lifelong resident of Sanford, died April 24 at the Newton Center in Sanford after a lengthy illness.He was born in Sanford on February 27, 1940, the son of Elmer L. and Cora (Beal) Swan, and attended Sanford schools.In his youth, David was quite an athlete, excelling at baseball and basketball. He had a lifelong love of the game of baseball and could quote many statistics of his favorite major league players.In more recent years, David could be seen all around town on his bike, usually toting a baseball bat, glove and goodies in his basket.He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister Joyce Jarvis. He is survived by a sister, Ann Brown of Kennebunk.A committal service will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale, where he will be buried beside his mother.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
