Richard H. Sullivan
Richard H. Sullivan, 96, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday November 1, 2012 at the Newton Center in Sanford. He was born in South Berwick on November 28, 1915, a son of the late Elmer and Emma (Rivers) Sullivan. He graduated from South Berwick Academy as Salutatorian. He then served in the US Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1943.He then went to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Machinist Helper. Through the In-Service Training Program over the years he worked his way up to temporary superintendant and finally retiring in 1975 as a general foreman. In 1939 he met Rita Perreault and they got married December 10, 1941. They lived in Sanford the remainder of their lives.He is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Rita Sullivan who passed away in 1999, brothers, Raymond and Harold Sullivan.He is survived by his close and adopted family, Richard and Elaine Sevigny of Sanford and their children, Karen Williams of Sanford, Michelle Gagnon of Rochester, NH, Thomas Sevigny of Sanford, James Sevigny of SanfordVisiting hours for Richard will be held on Monday from 4 to 8PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
