Carl L. Stough
Carl Lewis Stough, 71, of Sanford, died on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Greenwood Center after a long illness.Carl was born in Johnstown, Ohio on January 9, 1938 to Lloyd C. and Luella (Henry) Stough. He graduated from Harrisonburg High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and then in the Air Force Reserves for an additional two years. He worked at Sprague Electric in Sanford for eight years before going to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He worked at the shipyard for 21 years, retiring as a Nuclear-Electrical Inspector in 1995.Carl was a member of the Sanford Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge in Springvale. Before his illness, he used to enjoy snowmobiling, fishing and coaching Little League baseball. His hobbies included woodcarving, painting and rock collecting.Carl was predeceased by his parents, by his brother, Neil Stough and by his sister, Edith Johnson who both resided in Ohio.Surviving are his wife, Patricia Stough of Sanford; two daughters, Carol Lantagne and her husband Chuck of Acton and Christine Durocher and her husband Ron of North Berwick; four grandchildren, Carl, C.J., Danielle and Matthew and his stepmother, Rhoda Stough of Harrisonburg, Virginia.The family would especially like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Goodall Hospital and the Greenwood Center for the wonderful care given to Carl during his illness.Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 31st at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 1st at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church.
