Brenda M. Stoney
Brenda M. Stoney, 67, of Lyman, died on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Newton Center in Sanford following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.Brenda was born in Beverly, Massachusetts on August 19, 1941 to Oscar and Alice Gates Rydberg. She was raised in Danvers, MA where she attended local schools, graduating from Danvers High School in 1959. Following high school, she completed a nursing program at New England Baptist School of Nursing in Boston and became a registered nurse, working in both doctor's offices and hospitals. In 1963, she married Stewart Stoney and together they raised three children. In 1995, Brenda retired from nursing and moved to Lyman where she and her husband owned and operated Scott's Cove Camping Area. Prior to moving to Maine, Brenda had been an active member of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers, MA where she sang in the choir. She was also a lifelong member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a very athletic woman and enjoyed playing volleyball and bowling. She was also an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed rooting for the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots. Brenda traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe and attended Super Bowl XXXVI and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah. During the camping season, she could often be found walking through the camp ground, talking with the guests and enjoying the outdoors. Brenda will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Stewart Stoney of Lyman; three children, Pam Winsor and her husband Randy of Sanford, Rich Stoney and his wife Siobhan of Danvers, MA and Stephanie Boissonneault and her husband Mark of Sanford; A sister, Elaine Clifford of Peabody, MA; a brother, Dana Rydberg of Harrison; a brother-in-law, Richard Stoney and his wife Tracy of Danvers, MA; five grandchildren, Kayla and Valerie Winsor and Molly, Sara and Brady Boissonneault and several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 13th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
