Meredith Stevens

Meredith "Mary" Stevens, 57, of E. Waterboro, died Wednesday morning at home after a long illness.She was born in Saco on September 12, 1951, a daughter of Robert E. and Elizabeth (Place) Abbott, attended Waterboro schools and was a 1969 graduate of Sanford High School. After high school she attended cosmetology school in Saco.Mary worked for a time as a beautician in Portland and Limerick, the for several years she owned and operated Meredith's 202 Hair Care in Waterboro, retiring a few years ago due to ill health.Mary's sisters recalled what a fighter she was, how she never gave in to her chronic illnesses. They further stated that although unable to do much physically, she became a sympathetic and compassionate listener who was interested in what all her family and friends were up to, and she offered them much comfort. Mary also loved horses.Survivors include her beloved daughter and center of her life, Cheyenne Merrifield, 3 sisters, Gaye Littlefield and her husband Gordon, Roberta LaPage and her husband Robert, Linda McNamee and her husband Bruce, all of E. Waterboro, and her nieces and nephew Angela, Mindy, Amy, Heather, DJ and Amanda.Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale on Friday from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the North Waterboro Community Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Hutchins officiating.
