Carroll F. Stevens, Jr., 81, of Waterboro, died November 25 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness.He was born in Englewood, NJ on January 6, 1925, the son of Carroll F. and Ruth (Garvin) Stevens, Sr. He came to Alfred as a child where he attended school and graduated from the former Alfred High School in 1942.He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and during that time attended Penn State University.After the war, he returned to the area and was employed with the Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills. For 35 years, he worked for Casco Printing in Portland, retiring as their general manager in 1987.He was a member of the Fraternal Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post in Alfred.His wife, the former Carolyn E. Walker, died in 1998.Survivors include a son, David W. Stevens and his wife Georgia of Portland, a daughter, Sharon S. Mains of W. Buxton, 3 grandsons, Glen Mains, his wife Heather and their daughters Carolyn and Lorraine of Buxton, Craig Mains and Steven Sanborn, both of Buxton, and a brother Alfred Wilson, Jr. of Otisfield.A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at Pine Grove Cemetery in So. Waterboro. Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
