Jean B. Smith
Jean B. Smith aka "Nan," 78, of Sanford passed away at her daughters' home in Lyman following a long illness in the early morning hours of October 3, 2013. She had been surrounded by family for many days prior to her passing.Jean was born on November 10, 1934 to Edvie Banfill & John L. Brown Sr. in Albany, N.H. Jean grew up with four brothers and two sisters. She attended local Conway, N.H. schools. She married Chester P. Smith, Jr. on August 27, 1952 in Conway, N.H. and they started their life together. They planted their family roots in Sanford and Jean became a homemaker. Jean raised her five children and enjoyed time with her family. She was well known for her quick wit and great sense of humor. She enjoyed watching her "programs" on Lifetime TV network, sitting in the sun watching her grandchildren play in her backyard, listening to Patsy Cline and most of all spending time with her husband. Jean is survived by her sister Eva Swan of Dover, N.H., 3 daughters, Lorene Curran and husband Mikal of Scarborough, ME; Joanne Ricker and partner Steve Daudelin of Sanford, ME; Teresa Martel and husband Tim of Lyman, ME. two sons, Ralph Smith and wife Sandy of Alfred, ME and Darren Smith and wife Kelly of Acton, ME. twelve Grandchildren: Stacie, Darcie, Donna, Shane, Christin, Matthew, Joshua, Nicholas, Kendra, Chelsea, Ryan and Christopher and twelve great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her husband, Chester on Feb. 9, 1994 and her siblings John Brown Jr., Wilbur Brown, Franklin J. Brown, Pauline L. Ramsdell, and Carl R.
