Marie L. Smith

WELLS Marie L. Smith 91 formerly of Sanford died early Thursday morning at York Hospital. She was born in Sanford January 21, 1918 the daughter of Phillippe & Alphnosine (Lamothe) Duchette. Marie was educated at the former Holy Family School. She has been residing at Wells Beach since 1973.Mrs. Smith was employed as a spinner at the former Goodall-Sanford Textle Mills until they closed in 1954. She later would be employed by Jagger Mills and retire from there in 1974 after a combined total of 38 years of employment. Marie was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne, and A.A.R.P.Marie was predeceased by her husband Harold E. Smith in 1989. She is survived by her two daughters, Marion Hogan and her fiancee Tom Posa of Livermore and Irene Diment and her husband Joseph of Kittery Point, three grandchildren, six great granddaughters, and a great great grandson.Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 :00 AM Monday at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
