Thomas L. Shaw

Thomas Lipton Shaw, 73, of Scarborough, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. He was surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born on May 10, 1943 to Thomas Lipton Shaw, Sr. and Frances (Lynch) Shaw. He graduated from the Boston Trade School in 1961 and immediately joined the US Navy where he proudly served until 1965. Thomas earned a combat ribbon for his service during the blockade of Cuba and the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. In 1964 Thomas met the love of his life, Gloria Jean (Harbour) Shaw. They married in 1967 and settled in Franklin, NH, Gloria's home town. Thomas began a new career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as an Apprentice. In 1976 Thomas moved his wife and two sons (Thomas Lipton Shaw, III and Paul Francis Shaw) to York, ME where they lived happily until Thomas retired from the Shipyard as a Shop Supervisor after a 30 year career. Eventually, Thomas and Gloria moved to Florida where they enjoyed many happy retirement years there until Thomas' failing health lead them to Scarborough, ME to be closer to their two sons. Thomas had many achievements in his life. He would tell anyone who asked, however, his greatest achievement was creating his family and raising his two sons who both made him proud by attending military colleges and embarking on successful civilian careers. Thomas leaves behind his loving wife, Gloria, his son, Thomas Lipton Shaw, III and his wife, Charmaine (Grant) Shaw of Scarborough, ME, his son, Paul Francis Shaw and his wife, Lisa (Morin) Shaw of Saco, ME, his grandchildren Elizabeth (Shaw) Chapman and her husband Vincent Chapman, Drew Shaw, Catherine Shaw, Meghan Shaw, and Ethan Shaw, and his great grandchildren Ellaleigh Chapman and Glorianna Chapman. There will be no funeral services, per Thomas' wishes. For those who would like to remember Thomas, his family asks that a donation be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Rd., Scarborough, ME.
