Donald Allen Sessions, 66, of Sanford, died on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.Donald was born in Lewiston on July 12, 1951 to Albertie and Gertrude (Kimball) Sessions. He grew up in Norway where he attended local schools. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for three years. After completing his enlistment he returned to Maine and went to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was employed for 21 years before retiring due to declining health.Donald loved to collect Hot Wheels cars and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed reading and keeping up on current events through various newspapers, magazines and the internet. He liked to go out bargain shopping and loved children. He and his wife Claire always kept Hot Wheels and stuffed animals in their car which they liked to give to children they would meet. Donald was an outgoing and friendly man with many friends. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother and will be dearly missed.Donald was predeceased by his son, Ronald Turmelle and by his brother, Albert Sessions.Surviving are his wife, Claire Sessions of Sanford; four children, Dale Sessions of Iowa City, Iowa, Richard Turmelle and his wife Tammy of Springvale, Cathy Woodman of Springvale and Karen Bouchard and her husband David of Springvale; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two siblings, Cynthia Viser of Walls, Mississippi and Ricky Sessions and his wife Bonita of West Paris, Maine and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with military honors taking place at 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 21st at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Society, P.O.
