Monique S. Saucier
Monique S. Saucier, 69, of Sanford, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on March 24, 2008 after a long illness with cancer. She was born on April 29, 1938, in Notre Dame Des Bois, P.Q., Canada, a daughter of Fernando and Annette (Morin) Dubois. She grew up in Arundel and attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and High School.After school, she worked at the Pepperell Mills cloth room as an inspector. It was there that she met her future husband, Abel Saucier. They were married at St. Joseph's Church on July 5, 1958 and made their first home in Killene, Texas. She returned to Biddeford in 1959 where the first of six children was born. Monique was a wonderful homemaker who loved children. She provided her family with an enviroment of loving care and moral values. Her family moved to Sanford in 1973 and when her children were grown up, she worked in the Sanford School System as a cafeteria worker. Sundays were a special day for Monique where all family members were welcome to come for supper and gather together.She was a volunteer helper at St. Joseph's Church and St. Ignatius Church where she sang in the choir. She also was a gifted painter and some of her paintings won blue ribbons at the fairs where they were exhibited.Monique is predeceased by both parents and her sister, Pierette Morin.She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Abel, three sons, Normand Saucier of New Britain, CT, Raymond Saucier and his wife, Diane of Sanford, and Roland Saucier and his wife, Katrin of Kiel, Germany, three daughters, Linda Morin and her husband John of Newfield, Louise Hodgedon and her husband, Gary of Hiram and Brenda Ryder and her husband, Lincoln of Winslow, three brothers, Marcel Dubois and his wife, Cindy, Claude Dubois and his wife, Claire and Robert Dubois and his wife Janice, three sisters, Claire Thibeault, Eliane Collette and her husband Richard and Aline Fortier and her husband Paul. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Visiting hours for Monique will be on Friday from 2 :00 to 4 :00 and 7 :00 to 9 :00 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 :00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish- St. Ignatius Church in Sanford.
