Hector Joseph Roux, 90, of Sanford, died on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Hector was born in Sanford on February 7, 1922 to Conrad and Emelia (Provencher) Roux, Sr. He graduated from Alfred High School where he was a pitcher on the baseball team and played basketball. In 1942 he married Ernestine Cote in St. Ignatius Parish where he was an active communicant, and together they raised four children.During his working life Hector was employed at Seamloc Carpet, Sanford Mills in the weaving room. After the mills closed in 1954, he started his own poultry business on Route 4 in Sanford. When his father died in 1959 Hector sold his business to his brother Albert and with other siblings, took over their father's business, Roux's Poultry Farm, in Alfred. After selling the farm in 1978, he began working for Pratt & Whitney where he stayed until his retirement.Hector was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics Fan. He also enjoyed woodworking and doing picture puzzles. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree Councils.Hector was predeceased by his parents, by his wife Ernestine and brothers, Willy, Conrad, Jr., Aime, Raymond, Leo and Eddie.Surviving are a daughter, Claire Bergeron and her husband Ronald, three sons, Donald and his wife Denise, Daniel and his wife Connie and James, all of Sanford; nine grandchildren, Steven Bergeron and his wife Lisa of Milton, VT, Janine (Bergeron) and her husband Ross Roy and their two sons, Bradley and Ryan, all of Sanford, Thomas Roux and his wife Mary-Dee of Milton, MA and their son, Finnegan, Jeffrey Roux of West Hartford, CT, Jennifer (Roux) and her husband Justin Kelleher of Glastonbury, CT and their sons, Liam and Brady, Michele(Roux) and her husband Bill Chase of Waterboro and their children Zoe and Griffin, Brian Roux and his wife Susan of Dedham, MA and their daughter Cailyn, Nicole Roux of Dover, NH and Travis Roux of Lebanon; two step-granddaughters, Stephanie and Christina Wilson of Sanford; two sisters, Ida Guillemette and her husband Leo Paul and Simone Bergeron and her husband Richard and one brother, Albert and his wife Geraldine.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Holy Family Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, 66 North Avenue, Sanford. Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Heart Association, 51 US Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, Maine 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
