Henry E. Roux

Henry E. Roux, 80, of Sanford, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 18, 2008 while trout fishing with friends on Henderson Pond near Millinocket.Henry was born in Sanford on September 9, 1928 to Edgar and Rosilda (Couture) Roux and attended local schools. In 1948, he married Margaret J. Monahan and together they shared 59 years of marriage, raising two daughters. He retired from Cyro Industries in 1993 where he had worked as a manager of trucking and transportation. He joined the Elks this year and was a long time member of Toastmasters. He was also a member of the Sanford Country Club and the Springvale Social Club where he could often be found playing cards. During the winter he enjoyed going bowling and was a member of a bowling league at the Bowl-A-Rama in Sanford.Henry was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved spending time in the outdoors. He was a skilled pool player and dedicated Patriots and Red Sox fan. Family was always very important to Henry and he was particularly fond of his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Henry was predeceased by his wife, Margaret J. Roux in 2007.Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen J. Stanley and her husband George of Shapleigh and Sheryl A. Roux of East Waterboro; three granddaughters, Laura Leedberg and her husband Melvin of Saco, Shannon Stanley of Westerly, RI and Megan Thiel and her husband Wesley of South Hadley, MA; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Katrina, Michael, Aidan and Keagan; two brothers, Robert and Roger Roux and many nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 21st at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 AM.
