Priscilla J. Rooney

Priscilla J. Rooney, 77, of Sanford, died Friday, June 27th after a courageous battle with cancer.Priscilla was born on September 18, 1930 in Sanford, Maine, the daughter of Gerald and Jeanette (Lebeau) Rooney. She graduated from St. Ignatius High School and lived much of her adult life in Connecticut. After returning home to Sanford in the 1980's, Priscilla worked many years as a home health aide with the Visiting Nurses Association.Priscilla was full of life! In her younger years, you wouldn't be surprised to see her in the cockpit of a biplane, tooling around the neighborhood in her jacked-up scooter, twirling across a parquet floor with her square dancing partner, or tinkering on a Sunday afternoon with her Chevy Nova. Priscilla loved her family and a good lobster roll.Priscilla is survived by her sister Marie of Springvale, her aunt Anita of Shapleigh and many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her deeply.Visiting hours will be Monday, June 30th from 5 to 8 pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church, Sanford. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery.A special thank you to the staff at the Seaside Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility and to Dr. Wadland for their wonderful care and support during Priscilla's illness.
