Polly Rock

Pauline (Smith) Rock, known to most as Polly, of Springvale, died January 13 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford at the age of 81, after a long illness.She was born in Sanford on April 4, 1928 the daughter of Mott and Mary (Ryer) White.A lifelong resident of Sanford-Springvale, she attended Sanford schools and was a graduate of Sanford High School. Polly was also a graduate of the Notre Dame School of Nursing in Concord, NH.She worked as a registered nurse at the H. D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford briefly, then she married Ralph Smith. He died in 1961.Survivors include a daughter, Lela Harrison and her husband Bill with whom she resided for many years, of Springvale and her grandson Peter Harrison, his wife Lisa and their son Andrew of Sanford.A private service will be held at a later date.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
