Jacky D. Roberts

Jacky D. Roberts, 74, of Sanford, Maine, passed on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was born on March 2, 1933, in Caney, OK, a son of James M. and Martha E. (Williams) Roberts. He attended local schools in Oklahoma. On June 9, 1961 he married the former Shirley Chadbourne in Sanford.In 1950 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1970 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked primarily as an electrician on airplanes. The military was an important part of his life and he was proud to be an American. After retirement he continued working as an appliance repairman for Strafford Appliance.He was a longtime member of the Sanford Masonic Preble Lodge. He loved fishing and gardening. He was a father figure to his five nieces and nephews instrumental and guiding them in their upbringing.He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Roberts of Sanford and a son, James Roberts of Sanford.Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 23rd from 6-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale where a funeral service will take place on Thursday at 1pm.
