Aime L. Richard

Melanie Richard, 98 years old, of Sanford, ME died Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Newton Center in Sanford, ME.Mrs. Richard was born on June 16, 1908 in Sanford, ME. She was the daughter of the late Anselme and Amanda (Baron) Lamarre. Mrs. Richard attended St. Ignatius School in Sanford, and has been a lifelong resident of Sanford.Along with her husband, Mrs. Richard owned and operated the Aime L. Richard Hardware Store in Sanford. Her many long days of hard work and service to her customers and the community helped the business thrive, and she enjoyed the many friends she made over the years.Mrs. Richard enjoyed traveling abroad to Europe and visiting her daughter and family in Germany. She enjoyed settling down with a good book, and was said to have a green thumb when it came to caring for her houseplants. Mrs. Richard was a devout Catholic, a communicant of Holy Family Church, and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne.Mrs. Richard is survived by two daughters; Pauline Richard of Weymouth, MA, Doris Richard and her husband Ronald of Dover, NH, and a son Robert W. Richard of New York, NY; three granddaughters, Laurie Snyder of Sanford, Karen Richard of Williston, VT and Michelle Richard of Shelburne, VT; five great-grandchildren, Kristina Madden and Brianna Snyder of Sanford, Roxanne and Jordan Renedo of Williston, and Nora Richard of Shelburne, and one great great-grandson Isaiah Madden of Sanford.A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Richard on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford.In Lieu of flowers the Richard family suggests memorials be made to the donors choice in Mrs. Richard's memory.
