Grace M. Reeves, 95, of Springvale, died on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Grace was born in Staten Island, NY on November 19, 1915 to Gilbert and Marion (Lewis) Turner. She grew up in Perth Amboy, NJ and Edison, NJ and attended local schools, graduating from Metuchen High School. Following high school she attended Middlesex General Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her RN. Grace was a caretaker by nature and always defined herself as a nurse, even after retirement. She worked as a geriatric nurse in New Jersey for many years. She served as the director of nursing for 20 years at the Seabrook Hill Nursing Home in Keyport, NJ and then went on to work for the Brookdale Nursing Home in Keyport where she worked until her retirement at the age of 62. Grace lived in New Jersey for most of her life. In 1996 she moved to Fairfield, Maine to be closer to family. She moved to Sanford in 2005. Grace enjoyed doing needlepoint and rug hooking; making many things which she gave to her family members. She also enjoyed going to the beach, going camping, reading, doing word puzzles and traveling with her sons and their families. After Grace retired from nursing she became very active in the churches that she attended. She was very close with her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a quiet woman who had deep and rich relationships with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Surviving are two sons, Clifford P. Reeves and his wife Jean of Vero Beach, FL and Dennis G. Reeves and his wife Patricia of Sanford; a sister, Jean Ferguson and her husband James of Naperville, IL; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 4th.
