James Rankin

James K. "Chip" Rankin, 86, of Springvale, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Shapleigh on February 28, 1922, a son of James and Katherine (Grant) Rankin. He attended local schools graduating from Lindsey High School in Shapleigh. He then served in the US Air Force during WWII and on June 13, 1947 he married the former Rosalie Emmett in Alfred.For many years he was employed at the former Sanford Goodall Mills and retired from Tenneford Weaving. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.He is predeceased by his parents: a daughter, Gail Rankin; two brothers, George Rankin and Lewis Rankin; two sisters, Mary Moody and Helen Shedd. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosalie Rankin of Springvale, a brother, Robert Rankin of Shapleigh, as well as several nieces and nephews.At his request services will be private in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at the condolence tab to the left.
