Ronald D. Rand, 48, of Sanford, died on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a lengthy illness.Ronald was born in Denver, Colorado on May 16, 1962 to Orace and Marjorie (Westgate) Rand. He grew up in North Berwick and attended local schools, graduating from Noble High School in 1981. In 1982 he married Annette Martineau and together they raised three sons. Ronald had several jobs over his life including as service manager at Print Recovery Concepts in Alfred and for the last 14 years at AVX Tantalum in Biddeford.Ronald was a devoted husband and father. He had served as an Elder in the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sanford. He had a deep love for his faith, his family, his friends, his motorcycle and his dog Gidget. Fishing and camping were some of Ronald's favorite pastimes. Throughout Ronald's illness he maintained hope in the resurrection and eternal happiness here on earth. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Ronald was predeceased by his parents and by his sister, Judy Wells.Surviving are his wife, Annette Rand of Sanford; three sons, Benjamin Rand of Sanford, Brian Rand and his wife Ariel of Sanford and Ethan Rand of Sanford; two sisters, Terri Rand-Heidenstrom of Sanford and her fiancee Mike Doherty of South Berwick and Barbara Fowley and her husband Douglas of Fairfield, CA and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 12th at the Kingdom Hall, located on Malcolm Hall in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
