Teresa A. Rafferty
Teresa Rafferty, 73, of Sanford passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 30, 1939 to Leo and Teresa O'Neil (Rose). She was the 5th child of 7 children and grew up in Boston attending local public schools for elementary and graduated from St. Patrick's High School. In November of 1959 she married Donald Joseph Rafferty, her first and only love since she was 15. She lived in Boston until four of her children were born and then moved to North Weymouth, Massachusetts. Her fifth child was born there. Terrie was a stay at home mom and dedicated her life to caring for her children. She was a communicant of St. Jerome's Parish.Her husband, Donny died in 1996. Life wasn't the same without her beloved Donny so Terrie moved many times until she settled Sanford in 2000 when she went to live with her sister, Joyce St. Pierre. She became a communicant of St. Therese Parish and a Lady of St. Anne. Despite a struggle with COPD for over 15 years, Terrie's pride and joy were her 7 grandchildren, who called her Nani. She was very proud of them and they were the joy of her life. She never got tired of taking care of them when they were young or visiting with them as they got older. Terrie is predeceased by her son, Steven, her sister, Nancy Booth and her brother Donny.Surviving are her brother, Leo of Brockton, Massachusetts and his wife, Joan, her sister, Renie Cejka and her husband, Robert, her sister, Joyce St. Pierre and her brother, Steven of Dedham, Massachusetts and his companion, Linda Miller, her son, Michael and his companion, Annie, of Keene, New Hampshire, her daughter, Linda Dicesare and her husband, Joseph, of N. Weymouth, her son, Donald Joseph (Joey) and his wife, Michele, also of North Weymouth and her daughter, Kathleen Rafferty of Medford, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren; Daniel and Chad Rafferty of Keene, New Hampshire, Joseph, Katie and Matthew Dicesare of N. Weymouth and Brady and Melissa Rafferty, also of N. Weymouth and many nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jerome's Church in North Weymouth, Massachusetts on Saturday, February 9th at 10:00 AM and burial will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery in South Weymouth, Massachusetts where she will be buried next to her husband, Donny and her son, Steven.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in her name to Waban Projects, 5 Dunaway Drive Sanford, Maine 04073. Terrie participated in Penny's for Waban for many years and attended the yearly Telethon whenever she could. A memorial Mass for Terrie will be celebrated at a later date at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in Sanford.
