Lorraine M. Purdy

Lorraine M. Purdy, 49, of Sanford, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at her home with her family by her side.Lorraine was born on May 22, 1959 in Lynn, MA to Richard and Pauline (Marakos) Poulin. She was raised in Peabody, MA and attended local schools. In 1978 she married Bruce Purdy and together they raised two sons. The couple moved to Maine in 1990 and settled in Sanford. When her children grew older, Mrs. Purdy began working outside the home. She was employed at the Corning Life Science Division in Kennebunk where she worked as a quality control inspector for approximately 10 years.Lorraine was a kind and fun loving woman with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed reading, camping and spending time outdoors. She liked spending time with her family and friends and was an animal lover. She was particularly fond of her two pet ferrets. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Surviving are her husband, Bruce Purdy of Sanford; two sons, Eric Purdy and his wife Elizabeth of Biddeford and Brian Purdy of Sanford; her parents, Richard and Pauline Poulin of Peabody, MA; four sisters, Nanette McFarland of Peabody, MA, Diane Poulin of Danvers, MA, Julie Poulin of Melrose, MA and Robin Breen of Lynnfield, MA; many nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in law.A period of visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 31st with a funeral service following at 12:00 PM at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
