Holly Provencher, 51, of Sanford, Maine passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, after a determined struggle with colon cancer. She was born October 6, 1958 in Sanford, Maine to John and Joan McDonald. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1976 and most recently worked in the main office at the Sanford Junior High School.Holly lived in Sanford her whole life and raised her two loving daughters, Heather and Katelyn. Her girls were the center of her world and their love gave her strength and purpose. Holly treasured every moment with her daughters.Holly was a very easy going and an extremely thoughtful person. She loved to read and could always be found with a book in her hands and a stack of "to be read" books close by. She found a true sense of peace and solace as she paddled her kayak on local waters with her close friend Elaine. Holly loved spending time at the "camp" on Mousam Lake and at Kennebunk Beach. She enjoyed camping with her daughters and her dog, Maddie. Rangeley Lake State Park was one of her favorite spots. Holly loved snuggling the new babies of family and friends. She was always the first to pick up and hold the "little ones". She wore a smile so endearing that no one wanted to ask if they could have a turn. Last year, the arrival of two new grand nieces and a grand nephew gave her plenty of "snuggle time". Holly's positive outlook on life was what allowed her to enjoy every one of her "good" days throughout her three year struggle with cancer. It was a reminder to people around her that life is good, enjoy it.Holly is survived by her daughters, Heather of Portland, Maine and Katelyn of Boston, Massachusetts, her mother Joan McDonald of Sanford, a brother Jay of Fryeburg, Maine, her Provencher family, her very dear friend Elaine Blanchard and by an important person in her life, Paul Provencher. She was predeceased by her father, John McDonald, who passed away in 1997.Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm with a Memorial Service starting at 7 pm with time for sharing at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street in Springvale.
