Angie Prefontaine, 92, of Sanford, died October 5 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a long illness.She was born in Sacre Coeur de Marie, Quebec, Canada on June 17, 1926, the daughter of Arthur and Sophie (Veilleux) Carrier, came here as a young child and attended Notre Dame School in Springvale.Angie had been employed years ago with Picadilly Shoe Outlet in Springvale, and then for several years worked as the clerk in the emergency room at H. D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.She enjoyed reading, especially the bible, working on puzzles, sewing and crocheting.She was predeceased by her husband, Horace Prefontaine, a son, Michael Fanjoy and by a daughter Shirley Gauthier.Angie suffered a debilitating stroke ten years ago, leaving her paralyzed on one side. Her optimism, determination and persistence drove her to live the rest of her years to the fullest, overcoming her circumstances. She was an inspiration to her family, friends and the staff at Greenwood Center where she had been a resident these past ten years. She had an indomitable spirit and will be dearly missed.Survivors include her son John Fanjoy of Florida and Brazil, four grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Nichole Raftopoulos, Michael Fanjoy, Jeffrey Gauthier, and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 12 at 10:00 AM at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford. Angie's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Greenwood Center for the many kindnesses shown to her and to them these past ten years.
