Yvette G. Porell
Yvette (Vaillancourt) Porell, 85, of Sanford, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2009 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born September 27, 1924, daughter of Alma and Philias Vaillancourt of Somersworth.Yvette attended St. Martin School and Somersworth High School.She married Armand Porell in 1948. They made their home in Sanford. Yvette worked in a shoe shop in Somersworth, and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during World War II. She then worked at Universal Shoe in Dover, at Laconia Shoe and Corey Shoe until each shop closed.She enjoyed making crafts for craft fairs. She was a member of the Old Timers Shop. She volunteered at Holy Family Church, Camp Waban, and Meals on Wheels.Yvette enjoyed travelling to Florida with her husband until his death in 1992. Her trips after that were to visit her sister.She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Rickey and Doris of Alfred; Norman and Jeanne of Alfred and Carol and Mark of North Berwick. She is also survived by four grandsons; Ryan and his wife, Rina of Kennebunk; Tracy and his wife Tracy of Kennebunk, Derek and Cody Duckworth of North Berwick; as well as a granddaughter; Kelly and her husband,Aaron Johnson of Kennebunk. Yvette also is survived by two great grandsons; Zachary and Samuel Johnson of Kennebunk. She leaves two brothers; Gerard and his wife, Audrey Vaillancourt of Berwick; Robert and his wife, Rita Vaillancourt of Somersworth, and a sister Marguerite and her husband, Real Belair of Portland, many nephews and nieces.Visiting hours will be held Sunday, December 20 from 6 - 8 pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 21 at 9am at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford.
