Gary J. Porell

Gary J. Porell, 51 years old, of Springvale, ME died Sunday April 11, 2004 in Dover, NH.Mr. Porell was born on June 13, 1952 in Sanford, ME. He was the son of Robert and Ann (Caldwell) Porell. He is a graduate of Sanford High School, and proudly served his country as a United States Marine.Mr. Porell worked for many years as a machinist at the Maine Tool and Machine Co. He was a very proud member of the American Legion, and enjoyed socializing with his friends there. Mr. Porell had a great love of the water. He spent a lot of time on Bunganut Pond. He enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing, and playing cards. Mr. Porell truly lived his life on the edge.Surviving are Mr. Porell's parents Robert and Ann Porell of Port Charlotte, FL, and Bunganut Pond in Lyman, a sister Debbie Goulette and her husband Michael of Alfred, a brother Stephen Porell and his wife Kathy of Washington, and a niece Lynn Alexander of Steep Falls.A period of visitation will be held on Thursday evening, April 15, 2004 from 6 to 8 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale, ME.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mr. Porell's name to the York County Shelters, 7 George Rd., Alfred, ME 04002.
