Geralda P. Plante

Geralda P. Plante, 95, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 surrounded by her family. Born in Sanford, she was a daughter of the late Gedeon and Rose (Perreault) Paquette. She attended local Sanford schools and was a lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Parish.For many years she had been employed by Universal Shoe, South Berwick Shoe and retired in 1978 from the Aletta Dress Company. She was a member of AARP and the Trafton Senior Citizens' Center. She remained a strong willed and independent individual until her final days.Mrs. Plante is predeceased by her first husband, Robert Gendreau who passed away in 1957, her second husband, Ovila Plante who passed away in 1995, sister, Beatrice Gosselin, stepdaughter, Jacqueline (Plante) Ingvalson, daughter-in-law, Patricia Gendreau, stepson-in-law, Oliva Roberge.She is survived by her sons, Robert Gendreau and his wife, Nancy of North Waterboro, Roger Gendreau and his wife, Yoshiko of Jacksonville, NC, Ronald Gendreau of Leesburg, FL, stepson, Rev. Paul Plante of Oquossoc, stepson, Michael Plante of Toronto, stepdaughter, Beatrice Legere and her husband, Robert of Sanford, stepdaughter, Irene Roberge of Sanford, two sisters, Lorette Roy of Sanford and Lorraine Gagne of Lebanon, 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.Visitation will be on Monday beginning at 10AM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Funeral Mass celebrated by her stepson, Rev. Paul Plante will follow at 11AM at St. Therese of Liseux Parish, Holy Family Church.
