Richard A. Pierce

Richard A. Pierce, 79, of North Berwick died on Sunday at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Richard was born in West Newfield on January 2, 1930 to Chester and Effie (Hill) Pierce, one of 22 children. Richard was a very friendly and fun-loving person. Mentally challenged since birth, Richard took pleasure in the simple things in life including drinking coffee and Pepsi and eating beans. For the last several years he resided at the Morrill's Mills Health Care facility where he had many friends. He was also a member of Curtis Lake Christian Church in Sanford. Richard will be remembered as a warm and happy person and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are six sisters, Ruby Young of Sanford, Janet Morin of Springvale, Audrey Guillemette of California, Margaret Gilliam of Portland, Arvena Fogg of Auburn and Janice Smith of Georgia; two brothers, Ray Pierce of Kennebunk and Roy Pierce of Greenville and many nieces and nephews.A visiting hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with a funeral following at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 21st at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
