Eleanor M. Pidluski, 95, of Lyman, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. She was born in Portland on November 6, 1914, a daughter of the late William and Nellie (Knight) Marston. She graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1934. She then attended nursing school at Maine Eye and Ear in Portland. A strong believer in the value of higher education, when she was 60 years old she attended Nasson College. She also taught herself to speak French. Throughout the years she was generous and supportive of family members who also sought higher education.For many years she was employed at the Sanford Mills. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, playing the piano and organ and was an accomplished seamstress. She also had a great love for tap dancing and received her first pair of tap shoes on her 95th birthday.She was well liked by everyone and had a great sense of humor. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She felt blessed to have lived long enough to have been a part of five generations in her family. She was the last survivor of 10 siblings.She is predeceased by her daughters' father and first husband of over 20 years, Winfield Braley. She is also predeceased by her second husband, James Pidluski and a daughter, Julia Travis.She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Cutten of Lyman, four grandchildren, Christal Tuttle and her husband, Arthur of Lyman, Diane Laitres and her husband, Robert of Shapleigh, Michael Travis and his wife, Kathy of Shapleigh, Glenn Travis and his wife, Beth of Shapleigh, two sons in law, George Travis of Shapleigh and Nelson Cutten of Sanford, ten great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.Visiting hours for Mrs. Pidluski will be held on Monday from 6 to 8PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
