Marion W. Pickett, 96, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday September 27, 2006 at her home in Sanford. She was born in Sanford on July 4, 1910, the daughter of Edmund and Alice (Perkins) Weeks. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1926 when she was 16 years old.She met her husband, Maurice Goodwin Pickett at the Bauneg Beg Grange and they were married on August 26, 1931.She retired from Cyro Industries in 1977 where she had been employed as an executive secretary. She was proud of the fact that she lived in the oldest house in Sanford on the Weeks farmland restoring some of the home over the years. She was an active member of the Christian Science Church. In the 1940's she and Emily Perkins founded a tea room in Ogunquit. Over the years many prominent movie stars patronized the establishment including Katharine Hepburn and Zasu Pits. She maintained friendships with them until their passing.He hobbies included rug hooking, bird watching, gardening, traveling. Her greatest joy was cooking holiday meals for her family.She is predeceased by her parents, Edmund and Alice Perkins, her husband, Maurice G. Pickett, sister, Lenore Cram, brother, (Peachie) Forrest Weeks and son, Allan Weeks. She is survived by one son, Gene Weeks, one daughter, Frances Pickett Hoel, nieces, Peggy White, Ginney Nadeau, grandchildren, Scott Weeks, Kathy Tirrell, Julie Mathieu, Jay Hoel, Andrea Spencer, Allan Hartwell, 13 great grandchildren.A private funeral service for family members and friends will be held on Saturday September 30 at 10am at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Christian Science Church 33 School Street, Sanford, Maine 04073.Condolences may be expressed using the tab to the left.
