Robert R. "Bob" Pelletier, 68, of Springvale, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a brief illness.Bob was born on February 2, 1948 to Leon and Una (Roussin) Pelletier in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for four years. In 1978 he married Joanne Beaubien and together they shared 38 years of marriage. He was employed at WASCO for 35 years before retiring in 2010. He also owned and operated The Strawberry Patch Restaurant in Springvale for seven years.Bob was an avid football and baseball fan. He also loved to play softball and had been a member of several men's leagues throughout his life. Bob had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. He enjoyed spending time using his computer and loved animals. He was especially fond of the cats that he had over the years. Bob was a kindhearted man who was always looking to help others. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Bob was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, Danny Pelletier.Surviving are his wife, Joanne Pelletier of Springvale; two children, Tracy Sprague and her fiancee Scott Wallingford of Sanford and Eric Sprague and his wife Lisa of Standish; two grandchildren, Kirsten Harris and Garrett Wallingford; three sisters, Pauline Lessard, Joanne Demers and her husband Alfred and Donna Jensen and her husband Wayne, all of Sanford and many nieces and nephews.A graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route One, Scarborough, Maine 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please visit www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
