Mary L. Pease
Mary L. Pease, 90, of Sanford, died February 16 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.She was born in Beverly, MA on June 13, 1916, a daughter of Garnet and Mary (Hickey) Colpitts. She attended St. Mary's School in Biddeford, Saco schools, and was a 1933 graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco.On July 17, 1943, she married Wilford S. Pease at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. He died in 2003.She was employed as a bookkeeper for Smith's Inc. Gift Shop for 19 years, retiring in 1983.Formerly a resident of Saco, Plymouth, MA and Wells, she moved to Sanford last year.While in Wells, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and served as a Eucharistic minister there. She worked in the Meals on Wheels program and served on its board of directors. While a resident of Plymouth, she was a member of the local DAV Auxiliary. Since moving to Sanford she had attended St. Therse of Lisieux Parish.Family members recalled that she was a kind and quiet lady who liked to read, knit, crochet and bake, especially bread.Survivors include a son, Francis "Frank" Pease and his wife Jean of Sanford, 2 daughters, Margaret E. "Peggy Sue" Richards and her husband Bill of Telluride, CO, Theresa Walker and her husband Henry of Grinnel, Iowa, 2 brothers, Bernard Colpitts of Tucson, AZ, Paul Colpitts of Saco, a sister, Theresa Colpitts of Saco, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church with Mary's nephew the Rev. Albert Colpitts, as principal celebrant.
