Daniel J. Orino

Daniel J. Orino, 85, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on August 13, 2020. Daniel was born on May 5, 1935 in Rumford, Maine to Adolphus and Maude (Gaudet) Orino.Daniel graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Maine in 1953, where he played baseball, football and basketball. He went to UMO in Orono, Maine to get his degree in teaching, with a focus in history. Once he started his teaching career he coached and umpired for baseball and basketball.After teaching for several years he left to go into insurance for Franklin Life Insurance. A couple years later he went and opened up his own insurance agency, Kalman-Orino Insurance Agency with his predeceased best frien Keith Kalman, in Sanford, Maine.Daniel is survived by his wife, Irene Orino (Roberts), whom he was married to for 59 years. They have two wonderful daughters, Elisabeth Orino-Murray, and Julie Orino with her significant other Duane Caron. He is also survived by three beautiful granddaughters, Kiera Murray, Kendra Murray, and Payton Orino, whom he loved more than anything in the world. Daniel was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, James, Richard, and David, as well as his sister Paula.Daniel loved spending time with his family at Wilson Lake. He was an avid fisherman who spent his free time fly fishing as well as making his own flies. He continued to work for the York Toll Booth up until the final months of his life.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday August 19th at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
