Gerard L. Normand

Gerard Normand, 83, of Sanford, passed away peacefully on Monday August 8, after a long illness, with his family by his side. Gerard was born in Sanford on June 22, 1933, the youngest son of Adjutor and Marie-Jeanne Normand. He was raised in Sanford and attended Sanford schools and Saint Ignatius High School. Gerard was an Army veteran and proudly served his country in Korea during the Korean War.In 1956, Gerard married the love of his life, Jeannine and they were married for over 59 years. Their 60th anniversary would have been in November. Together, they raised their 3 daughters in Sanford, travelling frequently to Canada to visit Jeannine's family.Gerard was pre-deceased by his parents Adjutor and Marie- Jeanne Normand, and his older brothers Rosaire and Andrew.Surviving are his loving wife Jeannine, his daughters Diane Conley and her husband Bill of Sanford, Louise Morrison and her husband Neal of Buxton, and Denise Normand of Sanford, whom they lived with. He is also survived by four grandchildren, David Conley, Amy Morrison, Michael Morrison and Emily Morrison, and one great-grandson, Joshua David Conley-Benoit. Gerard also leaves his in-laws, Arthur and Giselle Normand, Leonard Labrecque, and Pauline and Denis Levesque, all of Canada, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, and friends.The family wishes to thank his doctors, Dr. William Frank and Dr. Michael Akom. They would also like to thank Cindy Breault and Sue Smith for the great care they have provided in the home for the past three years.Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 11th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 12th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford.
