Karl D. Nieder

October 3, 2010 at the Maine General Hospital in Augusta. Karl was born in Red Bank, New Jersey on October 27, 1981, a son of Charles and Deborah (Butler) Nieder.Karl graduated from Sanford High School in 1999. In high school he played on the tennis team and was a National Honor Society member. In 2003 he graduated from the University of Southern Maine. For the past three years Karl had been employed as an electrical designer in the apprenticeship program at Bath Iron Works.Karl D. Nieder, 28, of Gardiner and formerly of Springvale, passed away on Sunday, Karl enjoyed snowboarding, camping, music, singing and playing the guitar. He had a great sense of humor. Quick witted, he was the "King of One Liners"He is predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is also predeceased by his dad, Allen Gullison.He is survived by his fiance, Hillary J. Baker of Gardiner, his mother, Deborah A. Gullison of Springvale, a brother, Brian P. Nieder and his partner, Sierra Paquette of Springvale, a sister, Whitney A. Gullison and her partner, Nick Baker of Acton, many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and good friends. He also leaves behind his loving dog, Laci Lu.Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30AM.
