Paul E. Murphy, 60, of West Newfield, died on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at his home. He was born on April 22, 1957 to Paul and Mary (Duffy) Murphy in Malden, MA. He grew up in Burlington, MA. Paul graduated from the Massachusetts General School of Nursing, where he also met his late wife, Kathy Murphy. Together they raised one daughter, Heather.Most of his working life was spent as a Registered Nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA where he was employed for over 30 years.He was a very well respected nurse, and received awards for his excellent nursing skills, for many years was the Newfield Health Officer.In his younger years, he was very active and involved in rock climbing, hiking and bicycle racing. He continued his love of the outdoors as an avid sportsman. He loved hunting, fishing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. Paul was also a sports fan, and enjoyed watching football, baseball, and hockey.Being an animal lover, Paul was especially fond of his two rescue dogs, Samantha, and D.J. He loved his home and property in West Newfield, and spent much time there just walking with his dogs. Paul is predeceased by his wife, of 33 years Kathy Murphy who passed in 2016.Survivors include, a daughter, Heather Murphy, of Portland, a sister, Mary Lou Cuevas and her husband Jeffrey, of Biddeford, an aunt, Elizabeth Cunningham, of Melrose, MA, uncles, Donald Murphy of Parsonsfield, ME and Robert Murphy and his wife Mary, of Malden, MA, a nephew, Andrew Nolan of Clearwater FL, and a niece Nicole Cuevas, of Wakefield, NH.Friends and relatives are invited to a time of visitation on Saturday, November 25 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, Maine.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to please consider the Animal Welfare Society, at 46 Holland Rd., Kennebunk ME 04043.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
