Steven O. Moylan, 66, of Sanford, died on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at his home in Sanford, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bangor on April 22, 1951 to Albert "Red" Jr. and Dawn (Powers) Moylan. Being from a military family, Steven attended school in several places, graduating from high school in Avon Park FL. After high school, he attended the Portsmouth Vocational Technical College for machining, which set him on the path to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he was employed until retirement in 2006.When Steven retired, he went to work as a custodian for St. Therse of Lisieux Parish of Sanford-Springvale and remained there until a year ago. Steven enjoyed several hobbies, the most important being his love of golf. He was a member of the Sanford Country Club. He was a hunter and fisherman and a member of the South Berwick Rod and Gun Club. He was also a long time friend of Bill W.Steven was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish Holy Family Church.His greatest joy came from his family, especially having the role of grandfather. The time he spent with his grandchildren was of utmost importance and he loved sharing his favorite activities with them. Steven was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed.He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol Moylan, two step-daughters Tara Rumery and her husband Ray, of Biddeford, and Tammy Finney and her husband Alan, of Las Vegas, four grandchildren, his mother, Dawn Moylan, of Portsmouth, two brothers, Scott Moylan and his wife Betty of Greenland, NH, Stuart Moylan and his wife Diane, of Sahuarita, AZ, two sisters, Sharon Kemppi and her husband Juhani, of Portsmouth, and Susanna Carter and her husband Robert, of Grant, MI and aunts uncles, nieces, nephews.He is predeceased by his father, and his son, Steven Moylan, Jr.Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 22, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford. A burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth, NH.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Make-A-Wish Foundation, 477 Congress St. Suite M1, Portland, ME 04101.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
