Jeffrey K. Beattie
Jeffrey K. "Jeff" Beattie, 31, of Shapleigh, died unexpectedly on May 29 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.He was born in Sanford on January 25, 1985, the son of Kevin L. and Melinda (Melanson) Beattie, attended Sanford schools and was a 2003 graduate of Sanford High School where he played on the 2003 State Champion Baseball Team. He was a 2006 graduate of Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.Jeff worked for over 10 years at the Bonanza Restaurant in Sanford, most recently as assistant manager. For many summers, he worked as a day camp counselor for Sanford Parks and Recreation. He had been currently employed with Atlantic Comfort Systems in Biddeford.Jeff was the guy you always wanted to have around. He was not shy or retiring, always the warm loud life of the party. He always put others first, never complaining, loved to entertain and was known for his hugs and his infectious smile.Family was most important to Jeff. He was always close to his three brothers and was a great father to his children. He had just recently started coaching his son's T Ball team in Shapleigh.Jeff had varied interests including fishing, and especially flower gardening and in earlier years, oil painting.He was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Sanford-Springvale.Survivors include his wife of 6 years, Jennifer (Carle) Beattie, his son Austin Beattie and his daughter Allison Beattie, all of Shapleigh, his parents, Kevin and Melinda Beattie of Springvale, brother Jason Beattie, his wife Stephanie and their sons Braydon and Bryce all of Buxton, brother Scott Beattie, his wife Leah and their children Drew and Emery all of Greenland, NH, his identical twin brother, Jonathan Beattie of Acton, his paternal grandmother Jeannine Beattie of Westbrook, his maternal grandparents Larry and Cecile Melanson of Sanford, and his father and mother in law, Donald and Anne Carle, Jr. of Shapleigh.The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 2 from 4 to 7 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 3 at 10:00 AM at the Notre Dame Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, 10 Payne Street in Springvale. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth, NH.With Jeff's love of flower gardening in mind, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a contribution to Jeff's family for the creation of a Living Memorial Garden for Jeff which will be an on-going work in progress at his home in Shapleigh. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Sympathy flowers for his wake are welcome as well. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
