Aaron J. Beattie, 76, of Westbrook, formerly of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday December 5, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Alston, MA on November 8, 1930, a son of Paul and Blanche (Boulay) Beattie. He attended Holy Family school graduating from St. Ignatius High School in 1950. He then attended St. Francis College in Biddeford. On October 23rd, 1954 he married the former Jeannine Roussin at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sanford. He retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service in 1971. During this time he attended Missouri State Teacher's College. He then owned and operated a janitorial and laundromat business in Sanford. In 1992 he retired from Sprague Electric. He was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Westbrook Knights of Columbus Council's. He cherished mostly the quality time he had with his family and attending his grandhildren's activities. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeannine (Roussin) Beattie of Westbrook, children, Diane and her husband Steven W. Kimball of Springvale, Kevin Beattie and his wife, Melinda of Springvale, Brian Beattie and his wife, Patricia of Westbrook, 9 nine grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, three brothers, Hector Beattie and his wife, Anita of Sanford, Andrew Beattie of Houston, Texas, Mark Beattie of Sanford, two sisters, Helene Tremblay and her husband, Larry of Sanford, and Sarah Beattie of Emory, Texas. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 6, from 6-9pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 :30am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Southern Maine, 901 Washington Avenue, Portland, Maine 04103.
