Raymond I. Bean
Raymond Ivory Bean, Jr., 53, of Waterboro, died unexpectedly on November 20 in Waterboro.He was born in Sanford on September 7, 1955, a son of Raymond I. And Nancy (Earl) Bean, Sr. He was a graduate of Austin Prep School in Reading, Mass. He went on to major in math and science at Merrimac College in Andover, Mass. and then earned a degree in criminal justice at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL in 1979.After the passing of his father in 1991, Raymond relocated back to Waterboro and accepted a position with Comnav Engineering in Portland. In the late 1990's he took an early retirement from his engineering position to pursue his passions and goals in life.Raymond was a quiet, gentle and kind soul with an adventurous spirit. An avid outdoorsman with an enthusiasm for cycling, hiking, camping and nature, he had a love for animals. His passions included traveling, history, reading and sporting events. He will be remembered for his caring, protective and sensitive nature and his generous heart. He had a sharp sense of humor and he will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.Survivors include his mother, Nancy Bean of Waterboro, his siblings, Larry Bean of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Angela Bean of Boynton Beach, FL, Spencer Bean of Sacramento, CA, Brad Bean of Casco, and a niece Angela Bean of Tallahassee, FL.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Burial Office will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Episcopal Church, on the corner of Main and Cleveland Streets in Saco.
