Raymond J. Baron, 76 SANFORD, Maine - Raymond J. Baron, 76, of Sanford, Maine, died suddenly at his home on Friday, June 4, 2010. Ray was born in Sanford on Dec. 18, 1933, to Donat and Helen (Furlotte) Baron. Ray will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ray was an avid Red Sox fan and was so happy to see them finally win not only one but two World Championships (GO SOX!) After serving in Germany in the U.S. Army, Ray returned to the states with his wife where he took a job in 1958 with the Springvale Veterinary Hospital under the late Dr. Vigue, and stayed on when the practice was sold to Dr. Douglas Hutchins. Ray stayed with the practice as a Surgical Technical when the practice moved to Route 4 in Sanford, ME with Dr. David Spahn where he remained working until his death, a period of 52 years. Ray was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Roland, Joseph (Maurice) and Robert Baron and an infant sister, Jeanette Baron. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Marion (nee Bernier); two children, his son Michael and his wife Lisa Marie of Stafford, VA., and his daughter Lisa Ann and her partner Rebecca Gow of Sanford, ME and Edinburgh, Scotland ; two beautiful grandchildren, Taylor and Maxwell Baron of Stafford, VA; one brother, Gerard Baron and his wife Dolores of Wells, a sister, Doris Madore and her husband Ralph of Saco; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 11, at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church in Sanford, ME.
