Arcille Babineau

Arcille D. "Babe" Babineau, 91, of Sanford, died January 29 at the Newton Center in Sanford after a lengthy illness.He was born in Biddeford on September 30, 1916 the son of Stanislaus and Rose (Arel) Babineau, attended local schools and was a graduate of St. Louis High School.He served with the US Navy during World War II.For many years, Babe was employed with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring from there some years ago.He was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish at St. Ignatius Church.He was predeceased by his first wife, Yvette (Dallaire) Babineau, and by a son Richard Babineau.Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Fern (Thibeault) Babineau of Sanford, a son Guy Babineau, several grandchildren and a stepson, Normand G. St. Amand and his wife Paula of Bedford, NH.Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church.
