Scott R. Armitage

Scott R. Armitage, 59, of Springvale, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.Scott was born in Tawas, Michigan on September 22, 1957 to Robert and Theodora (Sargent) Armitage. His family moved several times when he was young while his father served in the military before settling in Sanford when Scott was in junior high school. He graduated from Sanford High School in 1975. Following graduation he attended the University of Maine at Machias before taking a job at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was employed for nearly 35 years until retiring at the age of 56.Scott was always a very hard working man and took pride in providing for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and had been a member of the Springvale Fish and Game Club. He will be remembered as a quiet man who liked being outdoors and loved spending time at home with his family.Scott was predeceased by his father, Robert E. Armitage.Surviving are his two daughters, Jessica Armitage of Portsmouth and Jennie Armitage of Sanford; his mother, Theodora Armitage of Sanford; two siblings, Bonnie Adams of Saco and Gregg Armitage and his wife Linda of Portland; a nephew, Mark Adams of Saco; a niece, Kate Armitage of Portland and his former spouse, Helene Haitt of Sanford.Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 16th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
